Ald precision cmos voltage comparators offer industry-first integrated pre-amp and output driver

Advanced silicon gate EPAD technology enables industry-standard pinout compatibility and smaller die size for industrial controls, precision instruments and other analog applications
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - October 6, 2008 - Advanced Linear Devices Inc., a design innovation leader in analog semiconductors, today announced its Dual Precision CMOS Voltage Comparator that offers an industry-first integrated precision pre-amp and output driver. Using EPAD® technology, ALD integrated the components and reduced die size to offer the device in an industry-standard 8-pin SOIC package, giving system designers additional flexibility in simplifying designs and minimizing board space for a variety of precision applications.

The ALD2331/ALD2331A/ALD2331B Series Voltage Comparators offer ultra-low offset voltages and offset currents. The comparator is built using advanced silicon gate EPAD® CMOS technology for high-performance, high-precision analog applications such as low-level signal detection circuits that require low stand-by power and high-output current capability.

The device features a high typical input impedance of 1012Ω, low input bias current of 10pA and fast response time of 750ns with only 10mV input step signal. The ALD EPAD voltage comparator also features a low power dissipation of 55uA and single +5V or dual power supply operation.

The input voltage of the device includes ground, making it ideal for low-level signal detection with high source impedance. The outputs are open-drain configurations, allowing maximum application flexibility. These features are ideally suited for such applications as high source impedance voltage comparison circuits, dual limit window comparators, power supply voltage monitors, photo-detector sensor circuits and others.
